"I have never had a time in my life like this where I can go from a great high in feeling like I have this life thing figured out and within hours to totally not having a clue about anything. Unbelievably frustrating!!!!"
Hey onesong, are we living the same life? I'm so with ya there.
"What else is crazy to me is that so many other areas of my life now work easily."
YES!!!
"I have a wonderful girlfriend who has a couple of great kids, no conflict with anyone, a feeling of confidence and peace in all of my relationships."
YES!!!
"I know that my gift is to help people trust themselves, give themselves back to themselves if you will. The people closest to me tell me that I have a quality of making them feel good about who they are and they grow and grow around me. I'm not trying to at all boast but how does this help me in a day to day basis of caring for my financial needs?"
Oh Flying Spaghetti Monster, YES!!! I hear you.
It's like being on the verge of something wonderful, like you can taste it and smell it but it's still just out of reach.

LOVE, ALTRUISM & EVOLUTION
by Dansk ini'm an evolutionist.
one cannot argue that evolution isn't a fact.
however, i'd be interested in the better informed amongst us here explaining in simple terms how the feeling of love evolved.

"you can do something to help someone you just do it (even if you don't know them / will never see them again / won't get anything from them) just because it's cool and gives you the feeling that you are usefull and can bring something into other peoples life"
I'm not picking on you particularly RAF but the words "gives you the feeling that you are usefull" make me question whether this is altruism or not. I really wonder about what really motivates people. Is it their desire to help others as a sole motive or is there an ego-based need that is asking to be filled. Do we help others, express love, show affection, etc. for the other or is it because it makes us feel better about us?

I haven't jumped into this thread yet but I've been enjoying it immensely.
First off, thank you journey-on for starting this thread and opening such an interesting discussion.
"my problem is when you come down from that "mountain", ground yourself to this physical plane, you may have peace of mind and a quiet calmness "knowing" the oneness, but it doesn't negate the fact that your sister is still not with you."
I can relate to this challenge journey. While I enjoy the sense of "knowing" and spend as much time there as I can, living in the physical plane can be a bitch. Externals inevitably pull us back into the chaos. I have many days where I rant and rave and get emotional and forget all of that oneness stuff. For me, I do my best to recognize that the relationships I have with people and all the stuff that happens in life do not define who I am. I do my best to just let it float through me, rather than identify myself with it. Not sure if that makes any sense.

Hi Brooke,
I've been down with the bug since Saturday. It gets better for a bit then hits you again. It sucks ass! I've just been resting as best I can, drinking lots of fluids and sucking on throat lozenges for the cough.

"Oh yes! I have had a life-long phobia of pictures of a certain particular animal. (I won't name it because you lot will just post a pic to terrify me ) It's an animal everyone is supposed to love. Anyway, this particular animal appears on TV quite a lot recently so I often get freaked while channel hopping. I just wish they'd stop showing it!!!!!!"
Leolaia, I hope it's not penguins is it? :(
I think my biggest long-standing phobia is still crowds. I recently had to give up my car and am now using transit. I absolutely hate traveling during peak times (which is almost always here in the city). I hate all those people squished together. I feel like a caged animal. Being in a classroom will do it to me as well. Pretty much any social gathering can push me over the edge. You can imagine what meetings were like for me. Don't even mention assemblies.

Not an Oprah fan?
by looking_glass injoin the club.
first of all i am in chicago, so we get tons of stories about the woman.
is she any different from any other wealthy powerful person, probably not, but she certainly is not the golden child she presents herself.. 1) she can be demanding (not any different from many wealthy rich people) and if you do not ask how high when she says jump, you are fired.. 2) she is known to agree to something, disappear for a while and then people get a form letter from "her people" saying that oprah cannot participate in ___[fill in appropriate word here]_____.

While I still occasionally visit the church of Oprah, I'm becoming increasingly bored with her new age rhetoric.
